At Artarmon Vision, we understand that good vision is important for your child’s educational, physical and social development. Our experienced, professional and easy-going Optometrist has decades of experience working with children of all ages.
Children’s Eye Examinations
Visual learning accounts for 80% of learning. Children are unlikely to express difficulty with their vision as they may not be aware that their vision is different from others, so eye examinations are essential. We recommend that children should have their eyes examined every two years to ensure the best possible vision to enable them to reach their full learning potential. A child is never too young for an eye examination and does not need to know the alphabet.
Should your child require glasses, we stock over 100 different styles of children’s frames from a variety of different international and local eyewear brands. Our range of children’s glasses is durable and long-lasting to ensure your child can still be active and play.
Shortsightedness (Myopia) causes blurry vision when looking at distant objects. In recent years there has been an increase in the number of children becoming myopic. As myopia becomes worse, there is a higher risk of retinal detachment and glaucoma.
Although we cannot cure myopia, Artarmon Vision offers a range of treatment options to try to slow its progression including
- Ortho K contact lenses
- Bifocal soft disposable contact lenses
